IRphotonics Introduces High Performance MM-85 Multimode Optical Fiber Targeting Spectroscopy, Defense and Medical Applications |
|
THE MM-85 FIBER OFFERS BEST IN CLASS TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS WIDE AND UNIFORM SPECTRAL RESPONSE
Montreal, Canada, December 10, 2007 – IRphotonics, a leading provider of infrared fiber and materials, announced today general availability of a new multimode fiber for spectroscopy, defense and medical applications. By using in-depth know-how of infrared fiber manufacturing, IRphotonics can offer a fiber with a smooth spectral response from 1300 to 4300 nm.
The MM-85 is the first commercially available IR fiber designed and optimized specifically for high performance applications where a larger core/clad ratio is required. The MM-85 has a core diameter of 85 μm and a cladding diameter of 125 μm. This core/clad geometry is ideal for applications such as spectroscopy, homeland security, remote sensing and astronomy. The MM-85 is also a good choice for high precision bundles.
"Our customers have repeatedly expressed their interest in this new geometry and we are now pleased to offer them the solution they are looking for. To our knowledge, this fiber provides the best Infrared transmission performance commercially available," said Eric Geoffrion, President & CEO of IRphotonics Inc. "The MM-85 benefits from the latest improvements in our manufacturing process that allow for enhanced fiber transmission, and a greater mechanical integrity.
